SIAL ME 2018
SIAL Middle East 2018 attracted 20 529 unique trade visitors from the food, beverage and hospitality industry. 90+ countries were represented by the visitors at the event. Overall, AED 7.08 billion (US$ 1.93 billion) worth of deals were signed between exhibitors and visitors during the event. 138 major food & beverage industry deals were signed during the 3 days of the event.
The 2019 edition of SIAL Middle East will run from 9 - 11 December at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. If you attended the event this year, get ready to be amazed yet again with an even bigger event as thousands of never before seen products in the region will be on display.

HOSTED BUYERS PROGRAM
With the support of our Strategic Partner, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, a dedicated VIP Hosted Buyer Programme fully funds the visits of up to 500 top buyers from the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and African region to attend SIAL Middle East.
SIAL Middle East hosted 470 Top Buyers from 50 countries to encourage trade among the stakeholders across the globe. With a combined purchasing power of US$ 235 million, the 2018 edition resulted in 10 583 introductions and meetings with exhibiting international participants and domestic companies as well. Each hosted buyer attended an average of 23 meetings and 75% of hosted buyers signed or were looking to sign deals worth more than US$50,000 with the exhibitors of the show.

By working with innovative chefs to cook up delicious dishes using lesser known ingredients, it aims to “plant the seed” for a more diverse, nutritious and sustainable future. The world needs success stories and incentives to shift towards greater resilience in our food systems, and these events seek to illustrate the artful opportunities that come with diversification.
Gahwa Championships
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi will pioneer the first Gahwa Championships in the UAE capital in December 2019. Building on the success of its Bait Al Gahwa initiative, which aims to document and protect Gahwa as an essential element of Emirati culture, the Championships will test the knowledge and practice of competitors from across the region in areas such as the heritage of Gahwa; bean selection and roasting; and Gahwa preparation and serving. The Championships will also feature categories specific to roasting as well as a beverage concept award.
